A teenage girl has survived a fall from the third floor of an apartment building early on Tuesday morning, with police investigating what the non-resident was doing there and what led to the fall.

Emergency workers arrived at the scene, at the corner of Eugaree and Tweed Street in the Gold Coast suburb of Southport at 4.14am to treat the 18-year-old, with her fall from a balcony initially being attributed to ‘misadventure’.

She sustained injuries to her face, head and pelvis and was rushed to hospital.

A Queensland Police spokesman told Daily Mail Australia she was neither a resident of the apartment block nor was she visiting any of the occupants.

Queensland Police spoke to residents after arriving at the scene and decided not to lay any charges.
