Spain midfielder Fabian Ruiz ‘wants to leave Napoli after impressive season in Serie A… with Barcelona and LaLiga champions Atletico Madrid both interested in the 25-year-old’s signature’

  • Fabian Ruiz impressed for Napoli – but the team just missed on the top four
  • The 25-year-old midfielder is part of Spain’s Euro 2020 squad under Luis Enrique
  • Both Barcelona and Atletico Madrid are reportedly interested in Ruiz’s signature
  • However, both sides are some way short of Napoli’s valuation of the player
  • The Spanish giants think he’s worth £39million – but Napoli rate him at £52m
  • Ruiz has allegedly turned down two new offers, with his current deal up in 2023

Fabian Ruiz is reportedly looking to leave Napoli, with Barcelona and Atletico Madrid both seemingly in the hunt for his signature.

The Spain midfielder, who is part of Luis Enrique’s Euro 2020 squad, shone in Serie A last season despite Napoli just missing out on a Champions League place by one point as Juventus pipped them to the post before Gennaro Gattuso was replaced by Luciano Spalletti late last month.

However, according to Diario AS, Ruiz has rejected two offers to extend his stay at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium beyond 2023, when his current deal runs out.

Both LaLiga giants are reportedly among the list of admirers for Ruiz, but it seems that they will need to up their bids in order to lure the 25-year-old back to Spain.

Barca and Atleti are both allegedly prepared to offer €45million (£39m) for the former Real Betis midfielder, while Napoli are looking for a bid of €60m (£52m).

If Ruiz continues to hold firm, Napoli will look to sell one of their key men this summer or risk losing him for a cut-price rate in 2022.

Spain kick off their Euro 2020 campaign when they face Sweden on Monday evening in Seville, the city where Ruiz used to ply his trade before moving to Naples.
