  • A troupe of serial pranksters have been slammed over an ’embarrassing’ stunt
  • Youtubers, the ‘Jawners’, tried to expose a Karen who called them out on a train
  • The group were making high-pitched screams when she told them to be quiet
  • But the stunt backfired – with many slamming the group over their antics

A group of YouTube pranksters have been slammed for trying to expose an ‘angry Karen’ who told them to stop screaming on a packed NSW train.

Sydney teenagers Josh, Dylan, Bailey, and Jayden filmed the stunt and shared it on TikTok where it quickly went viral for all the wrong reasons.

The controversial clip begins with one of the boys making high-pitched squeals inside a packed Sydney train as his friends snicker at his shenanigans.

A woman sitting in the cabin turns around to rebuke their behaviour, telling them: ‘Grow the hell up’.

‘No one wants to hear b***s***,’ she continues, as several irritated passengers turn their heads to glare at the teenagers.

But despite being told off, the boy continues squealing as the group slink into their seats giggling.

Both boys can also be seen with vapes in their hands.

The video, which is titled ‘Karen got angry’, has racked up more than 84,000 reactions and 2197 comments, with the majority jumping to the woman’s defence.

While the term ‘Karen’ is a pop culture term used to describe an entitled and disapproving woman, hundreds felt -in this case – the woman was in the right.

‘How is she a Karen?’ one person wrote.

Another added: ‘She ain’t no Karen if you’re behaving like 12-year-olds.’

What is a ‘Karen’?

A ‘Karen’ is a term for a self-righteous woman, sometimes racist and usually middle-aged, who tells people how to do their jobs, asserts their rights and complains to the manager.

The term became popular in meme culture on internet forum Reddit to describe problematic women.

A Karen meme is often combined with the quote: ‘Can I speak to the manager?’

The male version of a ‘Karen’ is sometimes referred to as a ‘Kevin’.

‘I don’t see a Karen, I see a hero,’ a third said.

Others said the boys should ’embarrassed’ by their behaviour.

‘Y’all are embarrassed, right? Because you should be,’ one person said.

‘I know seven-year-olds who behave better in public,’ another wrote.

Someone else chimed: ‘I’m second hand embarrassed for you.’

The group of boys, who go by the name ‘The Jawners’, are originally from the Central Coast.

They embarked on their mission to internet stardom six months ago, when they posted their first video online.

Their videos feature them engaging in anti-social behaviour, such as urinating in public, disturbing other people by being noisy and playing and tampering with goods inside stores until security guards kick them out of shopping centres.

The group’s leader, who has 13,000 followers on Instagram for his scooter tricks, took to YouTube to boast about the negative publicity the latest clip had garnered.

‘So I posted a TikTok the other day – it’s now got like 360,000 views – it blew up and everyone’s hating on us. It got us more subscribers, I don’t really care about the hate,’ he said.
