‘The amount of food we throw away, and the amount of starving people there are just doesn’t sit right with me,’ one person wrote. ‘It’s sad.’

‘Can confirm,’ an employee commented. ‘We used to throw out SO much chicken…’

‘Give them out for free wtf,’ someone else shared, while another asked: ‘Why not give it to the homeless.’

Others pointed out that this is not a black and white situation, explaining that Chick-fil-A would be liable if the food was given away and someone became ill.

‘It is illegal to give food to the homeless in food service so any food leftover goes to the employees or the trash,’ one TikTok user wrote.

‘Chicken that sits too long cannot be given out to the homeless hours later,’ someone else argued. ‘It will get them sick. It’s not a doughnut.’

Chick-fil-A already has a food donation program — called Chick-fil-A Shared Table — that was started in 2012.

According to the company’s website, the program aims to help Chick-fil-A operators ‘fight hunger in their local communities by donating surplus food to local soup kitchens, shelters, and nonprofits to feed those in need.’
