Aussies mock Scott Morrison’s music taste after his Spotify playlists are exposed – and you’ll be shocked by some of the artists he’s got on repeat

Australians have been left amused by Scott Morrison‘s music taste after his Spotify playlists were exposed.
Crikey News reporter Cameron Wilson revealed the prime minister’s playlists in a video on TikTok after discovering he had accidentally left his profile public.
After tracking down the PM’s account, which was linked in an official Twitter post in 2018, Mr Wilson found the country’s leader has a collection of eclectic genres on his streaming service.
A devout Pentecostal, Mr Morrison predominantly plugs into Christian rock – with several playlists dedicated to religious songs, including Scomo’s Worship, Gospel Christmas, Hillsong United, and Top 40 Christian Hits.

While some of his favourite tunes may not come as a surprise, the cringeworthy titles of his Spotify playlists might.
‘He has all of these playlists he names after himself, like “Scomo’s Global Eighties and “How Good is Oz Rock?”,’ Mr Wilson says in the video.
He also found Mr Morrison has an ear for some unexpected styles after catching the PM listening to metal and Dutch electronic DJ Tiesto, as well as following Taylor Swift.
Among the prime minister’s recently played artists were pop groups Spandau Ballet and Tears For Fears, Swiss electronic duo Yello, and English post-punk band The The.
The clip has gone viral, racking up more than 28,000 reactions – with Australians either humoured or unsurprised by the revelations.
‘The fact that one of the three people he follows is Taylor Swift. LMAO,’ one woman wrote.
‘This is unreasonably funny,’ another added, while a third added:’Scomo makes playlists like a 14-year-old girl.’
‘Can we not have an embarrassing PM one time in my life? Hillsong, yikes,’ wrote another.

Many of Mr Morrison’s Spotify playlists featured religious songs, including Hillsong Christmas and Scomo’s worship
However, some felt the music lists were tasteful while others felt his daughters might be the ones following Taylor Swift through his account.
Others were shocked to realise their band choices overlapped with the prime minister’s.
‘I went to look at this and I think it’s my biggest regret. Seeing one song I like on one of those playlists is going to haunt me,’ one woman wrote.
‘Oh I love tears for tears too!’ another added.
‘Bruh, he listens to way too many of the songs I listen to,’ a third said.
Mr Morrison and his family are very open about their faith and have been members of the Sutherland Shire’s Horizon Church, in Sydney’s south, for more than a decade.
The Pentecostal faith has customs including speaking in tongues, prayer cloths, healing by the laying on of hands and energetic worship services.
