This is the terrifying moment a man armed with a 12-inch knife threatened a group of England fans who held up chairs to defend themselves outside a pub in north London.

Footage showed two groups facing each other with one person carrying a huge blade in the Hampstead and Kilburn area around five minutes before kick-off.

He can be seen approaching the men as they back away ahead of the Euro 2020 semi-finals match against Denmark. 

There were no reports of any injuries and no arrests were made, said the Met Police.

In the clip, six people step backwards with two holding chairs over their heads as three men walk towards them.

One person wearing a face mask with grey joggers, a white t-shirt and a black coat can be seen holding up the large knife.

He walks next to another man wearing a grey top and trousers, seen carrying a chair, with a third person following behind. 

The person filming can be heard saying: ‘Welcome to Kilburn lads’.

Towards the end of the video, a crowd of England fans, some holding up flags, can be seen rushing away from the pub as the three men appear around the corner. 

The video was posted to social media with the caption: ‘Madness. This was earlier today on Abbey road NW6.

‘Man with a Rambo knife threatening England fans.’

The Met confirmed that officers attended and one man was armed with a knife.

A spokesperson for the force told MailOnline: ‘Police were called at 19:53hrs on Tuesday, 7 July to Abbey Road NW6 after reports of a group of males approaching another group outside a pub, one of whom was reported to be armed with a knife.

‘Officers attended. There were no reports of any injuries. No arrests.’
