These schools have more reason than most to cheer the Three Lions tomorrow.
For they are where several of the England players started on their path to greatness – and the children following in their footsteps could scarcely be more in awe or the teachers who taught them prouder.
Pupils at Oakington Manor Primary in Wembley, Raheem Sterling‘s alma mater, posed with a cardboard cutout of the 26-year-old forward and waved England posters not far from where tomorrow’s dramatic final will unfold.

A former schoolteacher of Kalvin Phillips, 25, heaped praise on the midfielder for not being ‘overtaken by fame or celebrity lifestyle’.
Claire Beswick, who taught Phillips as a year one pupil at Whingate Primary School in Wortley, Leeds, said: ‘Kalvin was just the same then as he is now – a happy, laidback, lovely lad.’
At Button Lane Primary School in Wythenshawe, Greater Manchester, pupils let out a mighty roar for alumnus Marcus Rashford, 23.
Although Rashford has spent much of the tournament on the bench, his attitude has been praised by manager Gareth Southgate as integral to the success of the team.

Staff described how the striker still pops in to visit.
Headteacher Emma Roberts said: ‘On the pitch he is a fantastic player and off it he is standing up for the rights of children.’
Eileen Hetherington, who taught Kyle Walker, 31, PE at High Storrs School, Sheffield, said of the defender: ‘At times school wasn’t easy for him. But he managed to overcome jealousies and resentments to succeed.
‘His picture and signed shirt are displayed in the PE department as a reminder to others that your dreams can be realised.’
