Fulham are reportedly leading the race to sign Liverpool winger Harry Wilson this summer.

Wilson has never played a senior league game for Liverpool in his 16 years at the club but has impressed on various loan spells away, including at Derby, Bournemouth and Cardiff in the last three seasons.

And according to Goal, Championship side Fulham feel he is the right player to spearhead their bid to get promoted back to the Premier League at the first time of asking.

The Cottagers, under new manager Marco Silva, were relegated last season and do have widemen Neeskens Kebano and Anthony Knockaert in their squad but are still keen to move for Wilson, who has accepted he may need a permanent move away.

The 29-cap Wales international is attending Liverpool’s pre-season training camp in Austria this week, but he is highly unlikely to play regular first-team football at Anfield in the near future.

Fulham are thought to have held longstanding interest in the 24-year-old, who has two years left on his current contract, although no transfer offer has yet been officially submitted.

Jurgen Klopp’s side rejected a £12m bid from Burnley last summer, but another productive Championship loan at Cardiff and featuring for Wales at Euro 2020 means the club’s asking price will be nearer £15m now.

Newly promoted Brentford are also thought to be monitoring the situation, with Swansea, West Bromwich Albion and Portuguese side Benfica keen for another loan, although Liverpool would prefer a permanent sale.

The Reds are hoping to offload several fringe players from their squad to raise funds which would help them finance major summer signings like Youri Tielemans or Florian Neuhaus.
