A builder has created a state-of-the-art barbecue area inside an enormous wooden box.

The space, which contains a freestanding barbecue, a mini-fridge and three large storage cupboards as well as shelving and two countertops, is the brainchild of British kitchen supplier, Paul Mark.

The barbecue area is housed inside what appears to be a garden shed, with a retractable door that lifts to shield you from the rain while you cook.

A video of the invention, which has been viewed 10.3million times since it was uploaded to TikTok on July 15, went viral in Australia after it was posted to Facebook community group, ‘Australian Low and Slow BBQ’ers’.

You’d never think it from the outside, but a builder has created a state-of-the-art barbecue area inside this enormous wooden box

Viewers were quick to rave about the unique creation, with one man calling it the ‘nicest barbecue area’ he has ever seen.

‘I’m jealous, I want one just like this,’ added another.

A third said he would ‘probably live’ inside it if he could.

But many felt the design defeated the purpose of barbecuing altogether.

‘Looks nice, but what’s the point if it looks like you are inside rather than outside,’ one person wrote.

A second said: ‘Might as well just cook in your kitchen.’

Some worried it would attract insects and be ‘filled with spiders’ after one winter.

Others offered suggestions on how to take the barbecue to the next level, with one person encouraging the designer to build a timber dining terrace onto the side.
