Arsenal are interested in a move for Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez as manager Mikel Arteta looks to bolster his attacking options.

As reported by The Athletic, Arsenal are exploring a possible deal for Martinez, who scored 17 goals in 38 Serie A appearances for Inter last season.

The report states that Arsenal have asked about Martinez’s availability during negotiations over a deal that could see Gunners right-back Hector Bellerin move to Italy.

A deal for Martinez is likely to be dependent on the departure of Alexandre Lacazette, who is said to have been mentioned to Inter.

If Martinez was to depart this summer then his salary would increase significantly, with the Argentina international currently earning around £2.13 million (€2.5 million per year).

Inter are adjusting to a new financial model and consequently may have to make some significant sales.

Arsenal have been linked with Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham, but bringing in Martinez would be a significant statement.

Mikel Arteta’s side have already signed three players this summer, bringing in Ben White, Nuno Tavares and Albert Sambi Lokonga.
