Tokyo Olympics: Emma Wilson takes bronze in RS:X windsurf final

Emma Wilson takes bronze as Briton is unable to usurp China and France in thrilling RS:X windsurf battle in Tokyo

Emma Wilson has won bronze in the RS:X windsurf race in Tokyo.

The 22-year-old was locked in an intense battle with China and France for gold as the Briton had already secured at least bronze heading into Saturday’s race.

Wilson’s 24-point lead over fourth place, secured from qualification, meant that no matter the result in the final race, the 20 points on offer would make her uncatchable but the colour of her medal was still to be determined.

However, Wilson was unable to dislodge France and China and settled for bronze following a dogged battle on Saturday.

More to follow.
