Australian tradie is left stumped on live TV when asked which city The Beatles formed

Help! Aussie tradie is stumped live on the Today show when asked a very simple question about The Beatles… and even the hosts can’t believe it

They’re arguably the most famous band of all time, selling millions of albums around the world after forming in Liverpool in 1960.

But one Australian tradie was left baffled on Monday morning’s the Today show, after being asked a simple question about legendary UK rockers The Beatles live on-air.

Leigh Collins – a Victoria-based furniture maker – was quizzed on the band’s city of origin during Tim’s Trivia segment, in which weatherman Tim Davies questions viewers on their general knowledge for a $250 gift card.

But when asked what UK city Ringo Starr, John Lennon, Paul McCartney and George Harrison formed the band, Leigh was left completely speechless.

‘UK city… England?’ Leigh blankly said, as sports reporter Alex Cullen mouthed the word ‘Liverpool’ repeatedly in disbelief.

When the round was over Tim revealed the wrong answers to his guest, enthusiastically telling him: ‘The Beatles hail from Liverpool!’

Despite his excitement, Leigh stared back at the camera blankly – but did slam his table in anger upon being told that Dolphins do, in fact, sleep with one eye open.

While he didn’t bag any extra cash, Leigh did manage to nab the lesser prize of a $100 gift card for appearing on the breakfast show.

The Beatles are the best-selling recording artists of all time, selling an incredible 1.6 billion singles in the US alone.

They won the hears of millions with their popular anthems Help, Let It Be, Here Comes The Sun and Hey Jude.

Lead song writers Paul McCartney and John Lennon have each written a total of 32 and 26 number one hits respectively.

Meanwhile, the band are set to soar to the limelight once again later this year, as director Peter Jackson will release his long-awaited three-part documentary series called The Beatles: Get Back.

It will take audiences back in time to The Beatles’ intimate recording sessions and performances during a pivotal moment in music history, when the band recorded their final 1970 album, Let It Be.

It’s set for release in Australia on September 2, 2021.
