Aldi’s $3 Choceur block has been named the best on the market after customers gave it top scores for taste, value and overall satisfaction.

The cheap block beat Lindt, Cadbury and Darrell Lea to the top spot in Canstar’s recent survey which asked thousands of Australians to rank their favourite chocolate.

The popular chocolate scored five stars in every category except ‘variety’, earning the top place in the survey.

Lindt came in second in the 2021 Canstar ratings

Australians have voted the Aldi Choceur as their favourite chocolate block in the 2021 Canstar awards, with Lindt chocolate coming in second place

The categories used for the survey were value for money, overall satisfaction, packaging design, variety and taste. 

In second place, Lindt, which retails for $4.50 for a 100g block, was given five stars for taste and four across the rest of the categories.

Cadbury came in third in the hotly contested competition, retailing at $5 for a 170g-190g block, the chocolate giant earned five stars for variety and four stars for every other category. 

The 2021 chocolate category was divided into three sections, blocks, bars and boxes.

The winner of the bars category was Turkish Delight, which scored five stars across every category.

Kit Kat came in second with Caramilk taking out third place in the bars category.

The Darrell Lea block was given fourth place in the competition

Cadbury and Darrell Lea came in third and fourth, respectively, after thousands of people voted

Snickers and Crunchie came in last in the popular category.

There were just three chocolate boxes nominated for the final category. The Ferrero Rocher box came in on top with five stars across every category.

The Lindt chocolate box scraped into second place with Favourites trailing behind in third place.
